Our news partner, CBS 2 and Fox 28, has announced the hiring of Christopher King as the new weeknight anchor. He'll join Karen Fuller weeknights on the CBS 2 News at 6 and 10 p.m. and Fox 28 News at 9 starting next week.

King was the anchor for Emmy-Award-Winning coverage of the mass shooting at the Route 91 music festival last year in Las Vegas, Nevada. A graduate of New York University's School of Journalism, the New York City native has reported live from a variety of major news stories. They include the September 11, 2001 attacks in New York City, the church shootings in Charleston, South Carolina, the mine disaster in West Virginia, the JonBenet Ramsey investigation in Boulder, Colorado, and many others.

Before working for CBS46 in Atlanta, Georgia, King was a freelance reporter, working for both CNN and CBS Newspath.

In a media release, CBS 2/Fox 28 News Director Becky Lutgen Gardner said,

(We're) thrilled to have Christopher King join our award-winning news team. Christopher has a rich history of covering major news events in addition to covering politics. Eastern Iowans will get to see firsthand his solid reporting as well as anchoring of major breaking news. He’s excited to join the team at CBS2/FOX 28 and put his years of experience to work in the Corridor.

Please join us in welcoming Christopher to Cedar Rapids! We'll give him an official welcome when he joins KHAK's Brain and Courtlin in the studio Wednesday morning, October 24.
