Caitlin Clark’s WNBA Suspension Watch is Officially Over
Caitlin Clark's rookie season in the WNBA has been one to remember. Rookie records for the most points, assists, and three-point shots EVER! But this season hasn't been without some controversy, including some Caitlin herself can control. If she wants to take her game to the next level, she needs to stop getting so many technical fouls.
Athlon Sports reports that Caitlin Clark has been hit with six technical fouls so far this season. If she had reached seven, she would have faced a mandatory one-game suspension from the WNBA. It's not a great look for the face of the league. I'm not saying that Clark doesn't have the right to stand up for herself during games. But the fact she was staring at a possible one-game suspension with her team in the midst of a playoff push shows she has room for growth. Fortunately, Clark and Fever fans can breathe a sigh of relief.
Athlon reports that because the Fever has just one regular season game left to play, Thursday at Washington, Clark is no longer in danger of a suspension even is she DOES get a technical in that game! The Fever stated that accumulated technical fouls reset at the start of the WNBA playoffs. Clark would have needed to reach seven technical fouls before the final game of the regular season to face a suspension.
Athlon reports that Clark addressed the technical situation after Indiana's 110-109 win over Dallas, saying "Now it’s basically over, I don’t have to worry about that anymore." She also noted that she doesn't like getting technical fouls and that her Mom wants her to get fewer. We agree with Mom on this one!
