Last Hope Animal Rescue is getting ready to host their biggest fundraiser of the year! Barks & Brews is happening this weekend at a brand new location.

One of the local animal shelters that we work very closely with for 'Furry Friday' is Last Hope Animal Rescue in Cedar Rapids. Last Hope hosts several fundraisers over the course of the year, but there is only one that includes beer tasting!

This Saturday, August 12th is Barks & Brews, an outdoor, family-friendly event that features live music, a silent auction, food vendors, inflatables, adoptable dogs & cats, and local beer and wine sampling. It will take place at Guthridge Park in Hiawatha from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m.

There are two different types of tickets for Barks & Brew 2023, and both can be purchased either online or at the gate. The first is general admission, which is $15 per person (ages 12 and under are free). General admission tickets get you access to everything that the event has to offer, except for the beer and wine tasting.

The second ticket DOES include the beer and wine tasting from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., as well as a commemorative 5oz tasting glass. They are $25 per person and you must be 21+ to purchase them.

If you have a friendly, vaccinated dog, you're welcome to bring them to Barks & Brews! I brought Tater with me a couple of years ago and he had a blast interacting with all the other pups. Plus, I bought him all sorts of treats and toys to take home. He's a little spoiled...
