April 25th is National Take Your Son or Daughter to Work Day. I've taken my two girls to work before and had them on the air, but this year it was Chase's turn. He's 14 and is old enough to hopefully fully appreciate what I do for a living.

Our day started when mine usually does. The alarm goes off at 3:15 a.m. and I'm out the door by 3:45 a.m. Chase joined me this morning and got to see the only other living thing awake at that hour. A raccoon walking down the middle of our street. As if to say, "why are you guys awake." He also found out that there is only one place open to get something to drink at nearly 4 a.m. Shout out to Kum N Go.

Once we got to the station Chase got to see the morning routine that Courtlin and I go through every day. We hunt for content for our show. We write blogs for the website and app. And then we go into the studio and put together a show. Chase wasn't too keen on talking much. He told me that he really didn't like the sound of his own voice. That never really changes. I don't mind my voice but is still weird to hear it sometimes. Among Chase's favorite things? The couch and TV in the KHAK studio for sure.

Chase did talk several times on the air with us and even read today's Impossible Question. He also got to sit in on a big meeting with some of the top big wigs from corporate. Sure he was bored, but I think they got a kick out of seeing a kid at their meeting.

The bottom line is I just wanted Chase to greater understand what I do on a daily basis, and for him to understand that it's more than just 'talking into a microphone'. One thing is for sure. He knows why I'm tired every afternoon!
