The Pie so Great, Brain Gets it Every Year for his Birthday!

Yes, today is my birthday, but that is not the point. The point is that I'm going to tell you the only thing that I ask for each year when October 7th rolls around. I request one gift. One item. And it can even be SHARED! The only thing I want for my birthday each year is the best banana cream pie I've ever tasted!

I first discovered this amazing creation on a trip to Sally's on Broadway in Springville. After another fantastic meal, we were somehow talked into trying some of the amazing pies at Sally's. I love a good banana cream, so I ordered a piece. After having one bite of that pie, I knew that one piece would not be enough. So I ordered a second. Simply put, it was the best banana cream pie that I had ever tasted. It was like fireworks in July. Opening gifts at Christmas. It was sex on a fork.

Before we left Sally's that night we asked who made the amazing pies served at the restaurant. The reply was a name as wholesome as the pie itself. Nana Jane. I was hooked and I had to have...I mean, know more! I hit up social media in search of Nana Jane. Nothing. A quick Google search also turned up no clues as to her whereabouts. It took a call to Sally herself by my wife Holly to get the coveted information.

So several years ago for my birthday, Holly called that number and got me an entire banana cream pie from Nana Jane. And that has been my birthday gift each year ever since. Yesterday, we drove to a location I'll only describe as somewhere in Jones County. I was going to meet Nana Jane in person for the first time. We were welcomed into her home by her husband and I finally got to meet the wonderful woman behind the pie. After talking for a while we discovered that there isn't a pie that Nana Jane can't make! Among her most popular orders are banana cream, coconut cream, and apple.

Nana Jane continues to make the pies you order at Sally's in Springville, and bakes for special occasions like birthdays and weddings. She isn't looking for fame or fortune. She just really enjoys baking pies for people who enjoy them. You can count me as one of her groupies.
