Brain and Courtlin Get Ready for Radiothon
As our radiothon for the Children's Miracle Network draws closer, Brain and Courtlin share their thoughts and feelings about the annual event. Remember to tune in Thursday and Friday to donate! 1-800-456-2772!
Brain: This will be my 16th radiothon in Iowa City. And while the length of the radiothon has changed, and many faces have come and gone, the heart of radiothon remains the same. The kids. No matter the year, there are always stories to tell. There are always families blindsided by bad news. There are always kids fighting through sickness and treatments. But there is also always HOPE. That is the overwhelming feeling I leave the hospital with each year. Your donations are giving these people hope. And you never know when you or someone you know might need the University of Iowa Children's Hospital. That is something that my family has also learned as my son Chase has also been a patient. KHAK listeners are some of the most generous and caring people out there and we couldn't do any of this without you. Thank you for supporting our radiothon and this hospital. We can't wait to bring you more stories of hope this year!
Courtlin: I'm not going to lie, I'm a little bit nervous about my first radiothon this year. I worked as an intern at a Detroit station that did a radiothon for a children's hospital, so I kind of know what to expect... but not really. Being behind the board at the radio station and actually being at the hospital talking to the kids and the families are two very different scenarios. As nervous as I am, I am still very excited to be part of such an amazing event. These children are so brave and so strong and so hopeful, they really are huge inspirations in tiny packages. I think that's what I'm looking forward to the most; getting to sit down and talk to these wonderful kids face to face. I can't wait to see everyone come together these next two days to raise money for such a worthy cause!
