An eastern Iowa family is mourning the loss of their daughter and mother of four.

29-year-old Brandy Shepherd-Margita of Anamosa went missing on Friday, August 2. Around noon last Friday, August 9, her body was found in a cornfield approximately 100 miles away. Shepherd-Margita's body was discovered in a field along Highway 78, just west of Wayland, Iowa. Highway 78 is the east-west highway the runs directly through Wayland, in Henry County.

The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation and Henry County Sheriff's Deputies are investigating the case and trying to determine how Shepherd-Margita ended up in the cornfield. Her cause of death has not been announced, pending an autopsy.

Shepherd-Margita's four children are now being cared for by her mom, Heather Brokaw of Oxford Junction. She told KWQC, "Brandy leaves behind four small children who she loved with all of her heart." The children are 9, 5, 3, and 11 months.
