It is always sad news when a restaurant announces they are closing. But it is amazing when that restaurant announces a short time later that they will re-open for business!

It is very rare when a restaurant comes back from the dead, so to speak. But that is the case with Bo Mac's in Cedar Rapids. Last month, the restaurant located at 219 16th Ave. SE announced that they would close as of Sunday, August 25th. Fans of the establishment were understandably upset. At the time of the closing, Bo Mac's did mention that they still owned the building. Now it appears that closing was only temporary.

KCRG reports that news of Bo Mac's opening back up for business happened at a press conference on Friday. The owner of the restaurant stated that the closure was only temporary and that Bo Mac's would be back. No reason for the closure was given. But at that same press conference, city leaders and business owners talked about the troubles they were facing given the ongoing flood protection project and constant road construction, according to KCRG.

Bo Mac's isn't the only restaurant to feel the 'orange crush'. The Ideal Theater and Bar recently revealed that business is down nearly 80% since a huge fence went up outside. A new program has been announced to help businesses in the area that are struggling. It's called Cone Zone Cash.

Cone Zone Cash can be spent just like real cash at over 30 businesses in the Czech Village and Newbo Districts. The goal is to get more people to frequent the businesses, especially when many are struggling.
