As the weather warms up, you see more and more bicycles on the roadways. Cedar Rapids wants to know if visitors or even people who live and work downtown, would be in favor of a bicycle rental program. They city is commissioning a study on whether a low-cost automated bike rental system could be sustained in the Cedar Rapids area.

There is only one city in Iowa that has such a program right now, and that is Des Moines. They launched their program back in 2010 and plan to expand it this year. The cost to rent a bike is a couple of bucks per hour.

If the study comes back and is positive, a new bike rental program could begin in Cedar Rapids by the fall of this year.

Would you rent a bike for an hour or two to ride downtown?
