Small businesses are getting more help growing their networks and customer base in Iowa, as Amazon is set to assist with a new "Last Mile" delivery station.

Amazon is leasing space in Iowa City that they will use at 2500 Heinz Road, the former Procter & Gamble site. The Last Mile program helps "get customer packages from delivery stations to a customer’s doorstep", according to the company's website.

In short, the facility will act as a hub to help small businesses with their delivery needs.

There is no timetable on when operations will begin, but jobs at the facility will be posted about 30 days before the target launch date.

There will be an information session in Iowa City to learn more about the Last Mile Program and what this facility will do, this Thursday night, November 21 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the MERGE meeting space, 136 S. Dubuque Street.

Amazon already has one of these facilities in North Liberty. Construction on a massive 780,000 square-foot building is underway near Bondurant that is reportedly being used for an Amazon delivery station, as jobs are being advertised there by Amazon.
