Former Hawkeye Folgueiras Hero Announces Transfer Destination
Much has been written about how the one season that Alvaro Folgueiras had at the University of Iowa was a bit inconsistent. But thanks to his heroics during Iowa's March Madness run to the Elite Eight, Hawkeye fans will never forget him. Those same fans will be able to watch Folgueiras at a different school next season.
Alvaro Folgueiras Transfers Out of the Big Ten
Earlier this month, Iowa forward Alvaro Folgueiras announced that he was entering the transfer portal. Many Iowa fans didn't want to see him go after some of the incredible shots he hit during the Hawkeyes' run to the Elite Eight. Sorry, Florida fans.
The Des Moines Register reports that Folgueiras has chosen his final college basketball stop, and it will be with Louisville. He'll join the Cardinals with one season of eligibility left.
Folgueiras is Iowa's Only Transfer Portal Loss
Folgueiras is the only player that Iowa loses due to the transfer portal. Bennett Stirtz and Tavion Banks both graduated, but Hawk Central reports that 10 other players from Iowa's Elite Eight roster will be back next season.
The Hawkeyes also added two players via the transfer portal in point guard Ty'Reek Coleman and 7'3" center Andrew McKeever. Hawk Central also notes that Iowa signed a pair of four-star high school recruits in Ethan Harris and Jaidyn Coon.
