98.1 KHAK First Responder Friday Salutes Kevin Hirl

Each Friday morning at 6:30 a.m., 98.1 KHAK's Brain & Courtlin pay tribute to an eastern Iowa First Responder. The weekly honoree receives a $25 gift card to Wild Hogs Saloon and Eatery in Walford and a $25 gift card to Honor and Respect.

Today we honor Kevin Hirl, who was nominated by Elsa Hirl! Her entry reads:

"Kevin has been a member of the Olin Fire Department for 11 years. He's seen fires (even our garage), accidents, fundraising events, crazy weather events, special community functions, and participated in many parades, all while representing our community with dignity and honor. As chief, he leads by example by responding to every call when he's not at work and he volunteers his time working on the new EMS building and mentoring new members. When the tones sound, he's the first one at the station and the last to leave after the call. He loves his community, family and department and goes above and beyond every time."
