8 Iowa Restaurants Have Been Awarded for Their Wine Selection

If you're on the hunt for a restaurant with amazing wine, you have quite a few options here in the state of Iowa! Earlier this week, Wine Spectator revealed their 2024 Restaurant Awards, and eight Iowa restaurants were recognized for their wine selections! The article reads:

"Wine Spectator's Restaurant Awards recognize restaurants whose wine lists offer interesting selections, are appropriate to their cuisine and appeal to a wide range of wine lovers."

The two Iowa restaurants that ranked the highest on Wine Spectator's list are 801 Chophouse and Oak Park, both located in Des Moines. They were among the 1,531 winners in the Best of Award of Excellence category. The other six restaurants were recognized in the Award of Excellence category, which had 2,150 winners. No Iowa restaurants were given the Grand Award, which is the highest ranking from Wine Spectator. Only 96 restaurants across the globe were awarded that honor.

Here in Eastern Iowa, three restaurants were given the Award of Excellence. They include:

  • Cuisine - Steakhouse
  • Wine Strengths - California
  • Selections - 100
  • Inventory - 900

• Montage, Cedar Falls
  • Cuisine - American, Seafood
  • Wine Strengths - California
  • Selections - 105
  • Inventory - 750

• Rubaiyat, Decorah
  • Cuisine - American
  • Wine Strengths - California
  • Selections - 225
  • Inventory - 3,100
