Would You Take a Test to See If You’ll Die in the Next 10 Years?
If you had the ability to see your future, would you want to know what it holds? Apparently, we're getting closer and closer to a test that could give us a glimpse into our future... but the only piece of information it offers is how long we have to live. I'm gonna give this one a HARD PASS.
An article from TIME reports that a team of researchers in Germany has created a blood test that predicts when you're going to die. The craziest part is? It's 80% accurate. Technology is terrifying. According to the article:
"The researchers report that, in a group of more than 44,000 healthy patients, their blood test was around 80% accurate in predicting mortality risk within five to 10 years."
This test is not ready to become available to doctors and patients, but it will be used as the foundation for more research.
After reading the article, I understand how this test could be useful, especially in older patients, but I can firmly say that I absolutely never want to know when I'm going to die. I don't think I could live my life happily knowing what my countdown clock says. What about you? Do you think you would want to take this test? Let us know your thoughts in the comments!
