I saw quite a few new faces at my gym last night, which is no doubt thanks to the new year. Now that 2020 has officially arrived, people are trying to get a good start to the year with New Year's resolutions. According to a new study from YouGov, 3 in 10 Americans made a New Year's resolution this year. The report says that "exercise more" is the number one most popular resolution, followed by "save money," "eat healthier," and "lose weight."

But, just how long will these resolutions last? Will people actually stick with them for more than a month or two?

WalletHub recently published a new study titled "2020’s Best & Worst Cities for Keeping Your New Year’s Resolutions." The article says:

"WalletHub considered some of the most popular (and most commonly broken) resolutions to rank more than 180 U.S. cities based on their conduciveness to self-improvement. In each city, we looked at a total of 57 key metrics, ranging from gyms per capita to income growth to employment outlook. "

I'm pleased to report that two cities in Iowa made the list in the top 100. Cedar Rapids came in 55th place overall, ranking 6th for "financial resolutions" and 4th for "bad-habit resolutions." Unfortunately, we didn't do very well in the "relationship resolutions" or "health resolutions" categories. We beat out Des Moines, though, who came in 79th place overall. Des Moines was actually in the top 5 in the category "Lowest % of Public Schools Rated by GreatSchools.org with an Above Average Score."
