Stats show thousands of people have moved to Iowa.
Recent data from the last couple of years shows that a record 8.2 million Americans moved to different states. That includes an influx of thousands of people into Iowa. The Des Moines Register, This Is Iowa, and Real Simple broke down different stats from studies and the census for the Midwest to see who exactly is coming into the state.
Who Is Moving To Iowa
Data from 2022 shows that about 3,000 people moved to Iowa that year (including me!). And on top of that, most folks that move here are coming from another Midwestern state, specifically: Illinois, Wisconsin, Nebraska, or Minnesota.
Stats show it's mostly Millennials that are moving to Iowa. And the reason why is definitely something this Millennial can relate to.
Real Simple named Iowa as one of the best states for Millennials. And that's because it's easier for Millennials to afford a home here. 63% of Millennials in Iowa own a home. The housing market is a nightmare, as we know and it is ridiculously difficult for our generation to afford a home. But the whole American Dream idea is much more attainable in a state like Iowa. That's probably why it ranked first in affordability and quality of life. There were also other categories, including culture, career opportunities, and lifestyle.
