It's now forecast to be one of the strongest hurricanes in history. Hurricane Lee has rapidly intensified into a monster category 5 storm and the question now is what track will it take and is the East Coast of the United States in danger.

Video shared on X showed how fast Hurricane Lee intensified from a category 2 storm into what is now a category 5.

As of Friday morning, September 8, 2023, NOAA's map shows the cone of Hurricane Lee headed north of the Bahamas.

Where will Category 5 Hurricane Lee head next?

The NOAA forecast discussion shows the hurricane experts are watching this storm closely:

It is way too soon to know what level of impacts, if any, Lee
might have along the U.S. East Coast, Atlantic Canada, or Bermuda
late next week, particularly since the hurricane is expected to
slow down considerably over the southwestern Atlantic.

It is believed as of this writing that Florida and the extreme southeastern part of the United States will be spared a direct hit from this storm, but concerns right now are for states in the northeast like New York and the upper eastern seaboard.

As this is a constantly developing (and currently strengthening) dangerous hurricane, this story will be updated as new information on the expected track of Hurricane Lee is released by the meteorologists of NOAA.
