What Exactly Is Going on At Jameson's in Waterloo?!?

A fixture of downtown Waterloo is in the middle of a major change.

One of the most popular bars in the Cedar Valley is changing hands. Jameson's Public House, located at 310 East 4th Street in Waterloo is always a must visit when Iowa Irish Fest rolls around.

The only authentic Irish pub in Waterloo was established in 2005, and opened for business in February of 2006, according to the official website.

"Since then, we’ve been bringing the Emerald Isle to the Cedar Valley with our fine food, Gaelic atmosphere and great entertainment."

What Do We Know So Far?

Rumors were circulating about the state of Jameson's earlier this month.

However, they were put to rest by one Waterloo business owner named Jeremy Jones.

In a social media post, he explained that he would be taking over Jameson's Public House. Jones had been inundated with messages regarding the popular restaurant.

He confirmed that he will be officially taking over on April 1st (no, this isn't an April Fool's Joke).

The plan is for them to reopen sometime in April after he puts together a "rockstar team."

There will be a brand-new menu! It's set to be the new team's take on Irish/American food.

Jones said that him taking over the business, "...happened very suddenly so there is a ton of work to be done and I accept that challenge."

Just Who Is Jeremy Jones?

Even if you haven't heard his name, you've probably been to one of his businesses. He is the current owner and operator of Screaming Eagle American Bar and Grill.

Jones used to be the General Manager of Deringer's in Cedar Falls.

So, he does have plenty of experience when it comes to running a business like Jameson's.

"It will be simple, very different from Screaming Eagle, and it will impress! We will put our spin on events and live music so they compliment our downtown rather than compete," Jones said on social media.
