Watch Rare ‘Corpse Flower’ Bloom In Des Moines! [PHOTO]
You wouldn't think that a flower that smells like a rotting corpse would be a big draw, but it's proving to be right here in Iowa! After weeks of anticipation, the rare Corpse Flower is beginning to bloom at the Des Moines Botanical Gardens!
The Corpse Flower is native only to the limestone hills of Western Sumatra, but the plants have become popular at botanical gardens across the nation. The plant is pretty to look at, but as the bloom opens you may want to plug your nose! The odor of corpses is to attract bugs and beetles for the plant to feast upon.
You can watch the Corpse Flower slowly bloom HERE. Hey, at least you don't have to smell it!
