The Field of Dreams is supposed to be a place that is open and free. But following recent vandalism at the movie site, owners are considering security measures to prevent any future damage. The field was damaged by a truck that drove on to the soft turf sometime Monday evening. And the damage could be worse than originally feared.

Groundskeeper Al Steffen said that the truck tires tore deep into the pitcher's mound, infield, and outfield grass. He said that the damage couldn't have come at a worse time. The sprinkler system may have also been damaged but that can't be checked until temperatures warm up.

Steffen says that there isn't a damage estimate yet, but that the repair will have to be done without the aide of insurance. The coverage just covers the buildings on the movie site.

Steffen says that repairs will start when the weather permits. There is a GoFundMe page set up to help with repair costs. So far over $3,000 has been donated. Police say they have no leads in the case.
