The Grundy County Sheriff's Office has released the names of two victims of a winter weather-related crash that happened Sunday. The victims are identified as 21-year-old Tristan Marlow of Council Bluffs and 21-year-old Justine Kime of Stewartville, Minnesota. Both victims were students at the University of Northern Iowa, according to that school's registry.

Officers responded to the accident on Highway 14 north of 260th street in Grundy County on Sunday. Officers discovered that the northbound car being driven by the college students lost control and crossed the median colliding head-on with a semi-truck driven by 27-year-old Lawrence Smith of St. Louis, Missouri. Smith was not injured in the accident. Officers say that it appears that the wintery road conditions may have been a factor in the accident.

The driver and the passenger of the car were both taken to local hospitals where they were later pronounced dead. The Grundy County Sheriff's Office says they are continuing their investigation into the accident.
