Traffic Signals To Be Removed Along 2nd Avenue SE Today

Later this morning motorists who use 2nd Avenue SE in Cedar Rapids will notice a big change. After the morning commute is over, traffic signals at several intersections will be taken down and be converted to two-way stops. Those intersections include:

• 2nd Ave and 2nd Street SE
• 2nd Ave and 3rd Street SE
• 2nd Ave and 5th Street SE

The removal of the traffic poles and signals will allow curb and sidewalk repairs to happen ahead of further street conversions. The work continues a Two-Way Conversion Project in downtown Cedar Rapids. So watch signs carefully! A one-way street you drove down this morning could be changing soon!
