With Halloween only being 22 days away, there's a good chance that you've at least starting thinking about what you or your kids are going to be this year. If not, you might want to get going! I'm a bit of an overachiever when it comes to Halloween, so Brain and I have had our 2020 Halloween costume planned since November 1st of 2019...

Google Trends has released their annual Frightgeist list, which uses search data to figure out what Halloween costumes are going to be the most popular this year. They even break down the results by city. If you're curious, the top costumes in Cedar Rapids for 2020 are:

  1. Deadpool
  2. Dragon
  3. Venom
  4. Scooby-Doo
  5. Minnie Mouse

Top costume in Des Moines is a horse, and in the Quad Cities it's a spider.

If you're interested in the most popular costumes across the entire U.S., the top 10 are:

  1. Witch
  2. Dinosaur
  3. Harley Quinn
  4. Rabbit
  5. Clown
  6. Angel
  7. Fortnite
  8. Devil
  9. Ninja
  10. Spider-Man

If you're having trouble coming up with a fun costume idea and these lists haven't helped, Frightgeist also offers a "Costume Wizard." You can adjust the gears to choose your desired "spookiness level" and "uniqueness level," and then select if you'd like your costume to be modern or classic and if you want it to follow national trends or your local trends. You can visit the "Costume Wizard" HERE.

I can't yet reveal what Brain and I are doing for our work costume this year, but my real-life costume is Leslie Knope from Parks & Recreation. I have my Li'l Sebastian pin and waffle purse ready to go! What are you or your kids dressing up as for Halloween this year? Let us know in the comments!
