The 7th Ave Marion Dairy Queen is Now a New Restaurant/Ice Cream Shop

The city of Marion has a new place to stop for ice cream... and more!

A new restaurant has officially moved into the former Dairy Queen location in Marion. Barker's Ice Cream & More has taken over the building at 2100 7th Avenue, right next to Casey's.

As you can see from the name of the restaurant, Barker's specializes in ice cream and other frozen treats, but they also serve other items. The menu includes "Fave-Rite" sandwiches, chili dogs, and pulled pork, plus sides like chips, baked beans, and mac & cheese.

As far as ice cream goes, Barker's has even more to offer. They serves malts & shakes, floats, "Twisters" (similar to DQ Blizzards), sundaes, slushies, banana splits, and ice cream pie, which is available whole or by the slice.

Barker's is still in the "soft opening" phase while they continue to train their staff, but the Facebook page says they're open through Saturday this week from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. each day. The drive-thru is not up and running just yet, but you can call ahead to place an order for takeout at 319-377-1054.

The city of Marion has had quite a few new additions these past few months! We recently found out that Eva's Mexican Restaurant has opened up in the former Mi Tierra at 835 7th Avenue, and the hip-stir has opened up their patio for walk-ins and reservations at 1120 7th Avenue ahead of their grand opening.
