Greek Food Truck Coming Soon to Linn County and Cedar Rapids
For the first time in years, residents of Linn County will soon be able to enjoy their favorite Greek cuisine thanks to the arrival of a new food truck.
For those of you old enough to remember, if you lived in and around Cedar Rapids and you wanted fantastic Greek food, you went to The Vernon Inn. The restaurant was located for many years at 2663 Mt. Vernon Road. The restaurant closed in 2012 and the building was demolished in 2015, ending a 36-year run of great Greek food in the metro. But now the Cedar Rapids Gazette reports that a food truck out of Fairfax will soon fill that void.
The Gazette reports that The Crazy Greek, a food truck operated by George and Allison Bohren of Fairfax, will soon be bringing Greek food to the streets of Cedar Rapids and beyond. With recipes from George's grandmother, the food truck will serve Greek food six days a week according to the Gazette.
The food truck will offer Greek favorites including gyros, chicken souvlaki gyro sandwiches, pork souvlaki skewers, loaded fries, and Greek salads according to the Gazette. On weekends, the truck plans on serving more traditional Greek recipes that you might find at a restaurant. The Gazette reports that meats will be served in marinades and traditional tzatziki sauce.
So when will Linn County residents be able to get this fantastic Greek cuisine? The Gazette reports that The Crazy Greek food truck hopes to be operating in Cedar Rapids and Linn County by the end of April!
