Tavion Banks Hoping for Another Chapter With the Hawkeyes
There would have been no magical March for the Iowa men's basketball team, without Tavion Banks. The Hawkeye forward who helped lead Iowa to the Elite Eight has some options when it comes to his basketball future.
Iowa's Tavion Banks Declares for the NBA Draft
The Des Moines Register reports that Hawkeye forward Tavion Banks had declared himself eligible for the 2026 NBA Draft. Banks also announced his intention to enter the transfer portal. However, the Register notes that Banks also stated Wednesday that "If a fifth year of eligibility becomes an option, I want to be a Hawkeye!"
Banks Waiting on Decision on Eligibility
Banks was a senior this season at the University of Iowa and has played four seasons of college basketball. But the Register reports that because two of those season were at the junior college level, he could still be granted more eligiblity. Banks played in all 37 games for Iowa this season, starting all but two. He was Iowa's leading rebounder and second leading scorer behind All-American Bennett Stirtz.
Something tells me we haven't seen the last of Banks in an Iowa uniform.
