Swimmer Missing – Search for Body Resumes
The search for the body of a missing swimmer at Palisades-Kepler State Park continues today following reports of a potential drowning Saturday evening.
Emergency rescue crews arrived on scene at the State Park just after 7:30 p.m. Saturday, but failed to find a male who had been swimming near the dam when he reportedly went under and didn't come back up.
The Linn County Sheriff's Office says the missing person is believed to be 31-year-old Jairo Mejia Jimenez from Cedar Rapids Iowa.
It is the second time in the past few weeks that a water accident has occurred at the state park, and a reminder to always be aware of the dangers that can challenge persons of any age.
