Suspect Arrested in Stabbing Near St. Luke’s
Cedar Rapids police can confirm they responded to a stabbing in the west parking ramp at St. Luke's Hospital just after noon on Thursday. One person sustained non-life-threatening injuries and has been treated and released from the hospital.
The police have identified the suspect as 25-year-old Armstrong Mento Massamba. He was arrested for Stalking While Displaying a Dangerous Weapon, Willful Injury Causing Bodily Injury, Assault with Intent to Inflict Serious Injury, and Going Armed with Intent.
The victim was able to walk into the ER for treatment and the hospital did not go into lockdown.
The stabbing stemmed from an argument between a male and female, with the third party sustaining injuries after having tried to intervene in what was called a "domestic situation".
