Local animal rescue Safe Haven of Iowa County is hosting their 14th annual Fur Ball this Saturday, but it won't be happening in the same way that it normally does. Because of the coronavirus pandemic, this year's event will be done drive-through style.

The 2020 Fur Ball will be held on Saturday, July 11th from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Price Creek Event Center in Amana. Instead of spending the evening inside the venue, ticket-holders will be able to grab their meal from their vehicles. They'll also be able to enjoy live music from Bill Heller from the safety of their car. Unfortunately, there won't be any live or silent auctions this year, but they will still be doing a raffle drawing for a quilt at 5:30 p.m.

Tickets for the drive-through event have been reduced to $25. Your meal includes Chicken Roulade stuffed with Italian sausage, which is served on a bed of cheese tortellini with marinara sauce, plus a roll, three-bean salad, and a slice of Five Fruit pie (a vegetarian option is also available). The deadline for ticket purchases is TODAY, June 7th. You can give Safe Haven a call at 319-622-7387. Their office is open from 6 to 7:30 p.m.

The Fur Ball is normally held in the spring, but it was pushed back because of the coronavirus pandemic. It is one of Safe Haven's biggest fundraisers of the year, so it's very important that we support them, even if the event isn't happening the same way it normally does! We love Safe Haven and we enjoy working with them for Furry Fridays on KHAK. For more information on the organization and the event, visit them on Facebook HERE.
