I know your mouth is already watering, so let's get right to the good news. Sugarfire Smoke House opens in Cedar Rapids this week!

I told you in early March that the St. Louis-based barbecue chain would be opening its first Iowa location in Cedar Rapids in May. Considering everything that's happened in the last three months, I think it's amazing their opening is only about a month behind.

According to a media release from Sugarfire Smoke House Cedar Rapids, they won't be fully open at the beginning. Dine-in won't be available at the opening. That's probably a good idea because I expect they're going to see quite a crowd when they open the drive-thru. Trying to keep hungry eastern Iowans six feet apart at a new restaurant might be impossible.

The restaurant, in the remodeled former F&M Bank Building at 2350 Edgewood Road S.W., will open to drive-thru service this Wednesday, June 17. It will be the restaurant chain's first drive-thru at one of their locations. Beginning Saturday, June 20, curbside pickup will be available. Other options like dine-in, catering, and delivery will come sometime in the future.

Johanna Powers is one of the owners of the Sugarfire Smoke House location in Cedar Rapids and says,

Our number one concern is the safety and health of our employees and customers, which is why we’ve chosen to scale back our operations upon opening. We’re really focusing our efforts on our drive-thru window and curbside pickup so that we can open safely and confidently.

The restaurant will be open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., or until sold out, seven days a week. You can take a peek at some of their menu below.
