If you've felt sick lately, it could be from those onions in your home.

According to KETV, the Centers for Disease Control reports that "red onions have been linked to a salmonella outbreak that has sickened more than 1,000 people in 47 states", including Iowa.

Red, white, yellow and sweet yellow onion varieties are all being recalled due to the risk of cross-contamination. Certain onions aren't the only items being recalled, but also foods that were made with these onions. Those foods include salsas, cheese dips and spreads, pasta salads and more. You can see the full list of recalled items HERE. If you aren't sure where an onion came from, the CDC recommends throwing it out, along with any other products being recalled. It's better to be safe than to be sorry.

If you've been feeling under the weather and are suspecting this to be the cause, there are some signs to look for. KETV reports that the CDC says "signs of salmonella infection include diarrhea, fever and stomach cramps between six hours and six days after exposure to the bacteria. People are usually sick for between four and seven days. Those under age 5, those over 65 and people with weakened immune systems are more likely to experience severe illness." The CDC also says that "in some cases, the infection can spread from the intestines to other parts of the body and require hospitalization." There have been 130 hospitalizations due to this outbreak so far, don't be one of them. Throw out those onions!

Also if you're experiencing any of these symptoms, the CDC urges you to "contact your doctor, write down what you ate the week before you became sick, and report the illness to the health department." Stay healthy, Iowa.
