It was an epic Battle of the Bells here in Eastern Iowa.

The popular holiday tradition returned this year. Mayors from several different towns in the Cedar Valley battled it out to see which one of them could raise the most money. These important community leaders helped raise money for the local Salvation Army.

Outgoing Cedar Falls Mayor Rob Green put on a good showing at the College Square Hy-Vee in Cedar Falls on Saturday, December 2nd.

The mayor of Elk Run Heights, Lisa Smock as well as Evansdale mayor DeAnne Kobliska were both outside of the Fareway in Evansdale, according to reports.

The fourth and final competitor in this mayoral matchup was Waterloo mayor Quentin Hart. Hart will be located at the Crossroads Hy-Vee.

Which Mayor Won?

2023 was a record-breaking year for this festive competition. According to reports$6,698.26 was raised between all four mayors. This is almost four times the amount that was raised last year.

Last year, there was an upset from Cedar Falls Mayor Rob Green when he won the 2022 battle. According to reports, for the first time since 2010 a non-Waterloo mayor won the battle of the bells. All of the participants raised $1,715.94.

Waterloo Mayor Hart ended up taking home the title this year. His bell ringing brought in $3,505.91. Coming in at second place was Mayor Kobliska and Mayor Smock. They jointly raised $2,454.36.

Mayor Green collected $737.99.
