Omo, the only leucistic giraffe in Tanzania's Tarangire National Park, is alive and well!

Sometimes our abnormalities are what make us special. That also stands true for animals! Omo is a giraffe at the Tarangire National Park in Tanzania, and she is a rare sight to see. What makes her so special is her coloring. Omo is leucistic (often confused with albino), which means some of her cells can't make pigment, giving her a white color. She is a beautiful creature:

Omo who is leucistic, is the only white giraffe in Tarangire National Park in Tanzania. But that abnormality makes it so special and beautiful.

Ecologist and Wild Nature Institute founder Derek Lee told the Telegraph that Omo is the only white giraffe that they are aware of, but there are other animals that also have this condition, like buffalo and ostriches. She was photographed just last week, and Lee said, "She survived her first year as a small calf, which is the most dangerous time for a young giraffe due to lion, leopard and hyena preying on them."
