Get ready for a flood of "turn on my post notification" posts...

On March 15, Instagram made an announcement of an update that could be coming in recent months, and people are noticeably upset. The post reads:

"To improve your experience, your feed will soon be ordered to show the moments we believe you will care about the most.

The order of photos and videos in your feed will be based on the likelihood you’ll be interested in the content, your relationship with the person posting and the timeliness of the post. As we begin, we’re focusing on optimizing the order — all the posts will still be there, just in a different order."

So basically, Instagram wants to rearrange the order of your newsfeed to show you what it thinks you want to see, instead of just what was posted most recently. I didn't think anything of it, but apparently, there are people out there that are OUTRAGED. Instagram was swarmed yesterday with many versions of the same meme, that says something like "turn on notifications," with a little arrow to the top right corner.

First of all, this change is not going to happen for a few months. It says right in the original post, "We’re going to take time to get this right and listen to your feedback along the way. You’ll see this new experience in the coming months." Secondly, you DON'T NEED TO POST THIS. Your posts are not going to be hidden from the universe, they just won't be in the same order in everyone's feed. You might be at the top of your best friend's feed, but not so high up on that person's that you went to high school with that you haven't talked to in 3 years. There's no need to panic. There more you "like" a person's posts, the more you'll see their stuff. If you turn on post notifications for every single person's account, you're going to be getting messages every single time those people post something new, and that could get real annoying, real fast! Don't get sucked into the drama.

And in case you need one less reason to post any of this nonsense, Instagram recently tweeted this:
