5 New Iowa Businesses We’re Looking Forward to in 2024

There are quite a few new businesses that are expected to open in Iowa in 2024! Here are five of the ones we're looking forward to the most:

Pickle Palace

Now that Big Grove Brewery has officially opened their Cedar Rapids location, we're excited for their neighbors to open their doors, too! Located right at the corner of 1st Avenue and 1st Street just outside of the downtown area, Pickle Palace is set to be another unique addition to the city. In addition to pickleball courts, the new business will also have duckpin bowling, a rooftop bar & lounge, a restaurant, and more. It's set to open in early 2024.

LEGO Store

Did you know that Iowa is one of only 14 states that DON'T have a LEGO Store? Well, that's going to change in 2024! Back in December of 2023, it was revealed that the first LEGO Store in Iowa will be opening this year. The store will be located at Jordan Creek Town Center in West Des Moines and will move into a space in the lower level of the mall next to Lululemon. We don't know much about the new LEGO Store just yet, but we do know that it's expected to open in the second half of 2024.

Dirty Dough

What's better than freshly-baked cookies? Freshly-baked, "super-stuffed cookie bombs!" According to Dirty Dough's website, "you won’t find a thicker, softer, more gooey or flavorful cookie than the ones from Dirty Dough." Each cookie contains different fillings, mix-ins, and layers that help set the company apart from other cookie brands. The first Dirty Dough location in the state of Iowa will be right here in Cedar Rapids at 2811 Wiley Blvd SW and it's expected to open later this month!

Malibu Jack's

We have a few outdoor amusement parks in Iowa, but the first INDOOR one is coming soon! Malibu Jack's will be expanding into the Quad Cities, bringing bowling, go-karts, bumper cars, mini golf, laser tag, arcade games, rides, and more to the area. Located at 858 Middle Road in Bettendorf, the new business is planning to open sometime in early 2024.

The Lost Cuban

Last but not least, a once-popular local restaurant is set to return to Downtown Cedar Rapids in a new way! It was announced in early December of 2023 that The Lost Cuban will live again at Third Street Market/Lost Cuban 2go. The "bodega-style" business will offer convenience store items, as well as hot-pressed Cuban Sandwiches and other favorites from the former eatery. It will also feature a pick-up window! There's no opening date just yet, but Third Street Market/Lost Cuban 2go, located at 312 3rd St SE, is expected to open within the first few months of 2024.
