Three More Restaurants to Open at Westdale in Cedar Rapids

The restaurant choices in Westdale, along Edgewood Road SW in Cedar Rapids, are quickly expanding. Three more will be opening soon.

GLD Commercial announced a couple of months ago that a popular sub-sandwich chain would be opening in the same building as RNR Tire Express and Slager Appliances. RNR Tire held its grand opening in early August and Slager Appliances opened in the middle of September.

The third and final tenant in the building at 2380 Edgewood Road SW will be Jersey Mike's Subs.

Jersey Mike's currently has two locations in the metro. The first opened in late 2020 on the eastern edge of Marion. In March of 2021, Jersey Mike's opened in The Fountains at Edgewood Road and Blairs Ferry Road NE.

The opening date for the 1,500-square-foot Jersey Mike's at Westdale has not been announced. The Jersey Mike's website says that location, along with stores at 415 Community Drive in North Liberty, and 618 Brandilynn Drive (Suite 7) in Cedar Falls, will be opening soon.

In July, we told you that Napoli's Italian Restaurant in Marion was adding another location. It will be located on the south end of a building at 2360 Edgewood Road SW. Though we don't have an opening date, Napoli's was issued a sign permit by the City of Cedar Rapids in mid-September. Even better news, the sign is already up.

On the north end of that same building will be a new, locally-owned restaurant called Crab House Seafood Boil & Bar.

I spoke to the operators of the new restaurant in early August. They told me some of their family owns Mai Pho and Mai Pho House, two Vietnamese restaurants in the city. Mai Pho is also on Edgewood Road SW, and Mai Pho House is located in The Fountains.

Crab House Seafood Boil & Bar will offer all different types of seafood, with a cajun flavor. They'll have everything from King Crab to Snow Crab and Dungeness Crab, along with shrimp, grilled oysters, crawfish, and lobster.

The nearly 2,400-square-foot restaurant will also offer a full selection of wine, cocktails, and beer. It will have seating for about 70 indoors, and an additional 20-25 on the outdoor patio which sits on the north side of the restaurant.

Yesterday, Crab House announced its grand opening would take place on October 26.
