Two More Restaurants to Open at Westdale in Cedar Rapids

The restaurant choices in Westdale, along Edgewood Road SW in Cedar Rapids, are quickly expanding. Here are details on the two newest additions coming to that part of the city.

GLD Commercial has announced that a popular sub-sandwich chain will be opening in the same building as RNR Tire Express and Slager Appliances. RNR Tire held its grand opening last weekend and Slager Appliances is expected to open later this month.

The third and final tenant in the building at 2380 Edgewood Road SW will be Jersey Mike's Subs.

Jersey Mike's currently has two locations in the metro. The first opened in late 2020 on the eastern edge of Marion. In March of 2021, Jersey Mike's opened in The Fountains at Edgewood Road and Blairs Ferry Road NE.

The opening date for the 1,500-square-foot Jersey Mike's at Westdale is not known.

Last month we told you that Napoli's Italian Restaurant in Marion is adding another location. It will be located on the south end of a building at 2360 Edgewood Road SW.

On the north end of that same building will be a new, locally-owned restaurant called Crab House Seafood Boil & Bar.

I spoke to the operators of the new restaurant last week. They told me some of their family owns Mai Pho and Mai Pho House, two Vietnamese restaurants in the city. Mai Pho is also on Edgewood Road SW, and Mai Pho House is located in The Fountains.

Crab House Seafood Boil & Bar will offer all different types of seafood, with a cajun flavor. They'll have everything from King Crab to Snow Crab and Dungeness Crab, along with shrimp, grilled oysters, crawfish, and lobster.

The nearly 2,400-square-foot restaurant will also offer a full selection of wine, cocktails, and beer. It will have seating for about 70 indoors, and an additional 20-25 on the outdoor patio which sits on the north side of the restaurant.

The owners of Crab House Seafood Boil & Bar hope to open by the first of October, if not sooner.
