New Survey Finds That Cash Is Still The Way We Pay
How much cash do you have on you right now? Go ahead and check your pockets, purse or billfold. I'll go first. I have none. Zero. Zilch. I rarely carry cash on me. Everyplace that I can use cash at, I can now also use my debit card. How much cash did you have? The average American carries $22 in cash on them. No much. Around 1 in 5 people say they have over $100 in cash on them. Here is what surprises me. Despite the fact you can use your debit card everywhere, the survey found that cash is still the most popular way people pay for things. Credit and debit cards were second, followed by checks. Overall, there is over 1.2 trillion dollars worth of cash currently is circulation. None of it resides in my pockets.
