New Marriott Hotel Coming to Downtown Cedar Rapids in 2025
Developers announced on Tuesday that a new hotel is coming to downtown Cedar Rapids under the AC Hotels by Marriott flag.
The Cedar Rapids Gazette reports that the new hotel will be part of the Kingston Yard development west of the Cedar River. It will be located along Second Avenue SW in the Kingston Yard Development along with Big Grove Brewery and the Pickle Palace. The Gazette reports that Kinseth Hospitality Companies and Kingston Hotel Associates made the announcement after closing on the land Tuesday.
A news release says that the new hotel will offer guests convenient options for dining and entertainment, and states that the new hotel will "be a significant new hub for both business and leisure travelers." The hotel will feature 123 'sleek and stylish" rooms and also feature 2,800 square feet of meeting space for events, according to the Gazette.
The Gazette reports that construction on the new AC Hotels by Marriott in Cedar Rapids in April of 2025. City leaders say that the new hotel will help meet demand for more overnight beds in the core of the city which in turn could help attract larger events to the area. The only other downtown area hotel is the city-owned DoubleTree by Hilton which features 267 rooms, according to the Gazette.
In May, Conlon Construction proposed building a 150-room hotel and 10 rowhomes on a city-owned parking lot in the Newbo District, according to the Gazette. The city is still taking bids on the project from interested developers.
