Multiple Deaths and Injuries In Separate Cedar Rapids Shootings
A shooting near Kirkwood Community College in Southwest Cedar Rapids has resulted in two deaths and two injuries.
Police say it happened around 1:20 a.m. on Saturday morning in the parking lot at the Iowa Smoke Shop, 70 Kirkwood Ct. SW. A media release from the Cedar Rapids Police Department says their investigation shows someone approached a vehicle in the parking lot and fired multiple shots.
When officers arrived at the scene, they found three victims who had sustained life-threatening injuries. Two have since died. Another victim who police believe is connected to the same shooting arrived at a local hospital in a private vehicle. That person also has life-threatening injuries.

There had been another shooting reported just after midnight in the 100 block of 29th St. Dr. SE. That shooting left one person with what Cedar Rapids police describe as serious injuries. Police do not believe the two shootings are related.
