Gunshot Wound Kills Man in Cedar Rapids
The Cedar Rapids Police Department is reporting the death of a 25-year old male last night in the city limits.
Police responded to the Cedar Valley Townhomes (3000 J Street SW) at 9:34 Tuesday (2/23) evening after receiving multiple 911 calls about gunshots in the area. When Cedar Rapids Police got to the scene, they found two male victims in the parking lot, suffering from gunshot wounds.
Joseph Parish Perkins, Jr., a 25-year old man from Chicago, Illinois had suffered a fatal wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Another man, a 21-year old whose name hasn't been released, had a gunshot wound in one of his legs. His injury was considered non-life-threatening and he was taken to a Cedar Rapids hospital for treatment.
The Cedar Rapids Police Department also reports no information on a suspect or suspects, is available at this time as well as no further information on the shooting.
The investigation continues this morning after investigators from the police department and crime scene unit worked the scene through the night.
