Morning Accident in Fairfax Results in Life-Threatening Injuries
A morning accident near the Casey's General Store in Fairfax left a local man with life-threatening injuries.
According to a release from the Linn County Sheriff's Department, the crash happened at approximately 7:50 Monday morning at 65 Williams Blvd. in Fairfax.
An investigation determined that 23-year-old Zachary L. Taylor of Fairfax was driving a 2002 Harley-Davidson motorcycle east on Williams Blvd. when the driver of an SUV turned left, into the path of the motorcycle. The driver of the SUV was a 16-year-old that was attempting to turn left into Casey's General Store in Fairfax. The media release states he did not see the motorcycle. The SUV driver was ticketed for Failing to Yield Upon Left Turn.
Taylor was taken by Air Care to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City with life-threatening injuries. He was not wearing a helmet.
Williams Blvd. was closed following the accident but reopened around 10 a.m.
