More Construction Coming to Black Hawk County? You’re Kidding.
Yup.
If you've lived in the Cedar Valley for a minimum of 20 minutes, you know that road construction abounds EVERYWHERE. We have solid roads for a total of thirty seconds and then the transportation gods say 'ENOUGH. THERE MUST BE MORE CONCRETE TO TEAR UP.'
I mean, look at all these tweets:
And a personal favorite from a friend of mine:
Notice the date on a lot of those tweets. This has been going on for a while.
First, Cedar Falls and Waterloo fell in love with roundabouts and dismissed the idea of stoplights or stop signs completely. Now, they're moving onto the interstate.
Per KWWL, "The Iowa DOT New Hampton construction office reports road construction on southbound I-380 will begin on April 11 until mid-September." The Iowa DOT website adds the construction will start at 7 AM on April 11, 2022, and be finished on September 16, 2022, at about 5:00 PM.
Not only that, the article sharing the news adds this: "Construction will require lanes to be closed."
Here's a picture of where the construction will take place, as shared on 511ia.org.
The exact location will be between Exit 65: US Highway-20 near Raymond and Exit 55: County Road V65 roughly a mile north of Brandon.
KWWL added this into the article they shared regarding how drivers should conduct themselves when traveling through the upcoming interstate construction: "Iowa DOT reminds drivers to stay alert, wear seat belts, and allow enough space between vehicles."
