Mayoral Showdown: Battle of the Bells Returns to Eastern Iowa!
It’s a battle of the bells for some of the most important figures in local politics here in Eastern Iowa.
The popular holiday tradition is back again this year, where mayors from several different towns in the Cedar Valley are seeing which of them can raise the most money. These important community leaders will be ringing bells and raising money for the Salvation Army.
The Battle of the Bells is a tradition that has helped raise thousands of dollars for the organization in past years.
Where Will the Mayors Be Setting Up Shop?
Each of the mayors of the four towns will be spreading Yuletide cheer outside of several grocery stores throughout the Cedar Valley.
Outgoing Cedar Falls Mayor Rob Green is set to be ringing his bell at the College Square Hy-Vee in Cedar Falls.
The mayor of Elk Run Heights, Lisa Smock as well as Evansdale mayor DeAnne Kobliska will both be outside of the Fareway in Evansdale, according to reports.
The fourth and final competitor in this mayoral matchup is Waterloo mayor Quentin Hart. Hart will be located at the Crossroads Hy-Vee.
What Time Should I Go to Support My Mayor?
The Battle of the Bells is set to go on from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM on Saturday, December 2nd.
Last year, there was an upset from Cedar Falls Mayor Rob Green. According to reports, for the first time since 2010 a non-Waterloo mayor won the battle.
