Former Marion Maid Rite Finally Has a New Tenant

For 31 years, the Marion Maid Rite sat at the corner of 7th Avenue and 10th Street. I can remember being able to smell when a fresh batch of onion rings was done, as the scent would travel all the way down our street. But in January of 2017, the lease expired, and the restaurant closed. Now, nine years later, the unoccupied space will finally be home to a new tenant!

Children's Store Moving Into Old Maid Rite Location

KCRG reports that the old Maid Rite location in Uptown Marion will soon be the new home for The Purple Wagon. The store that caters to babies and toddlers originally opened in Marion's West End. Their current store can be found just down from the old Maid Rite location on 7th Avenue, according to KCRG. They announced the move on social media.

When The Purple Wagon makes the move to its new location, Frankie P's, which is currently located in the shops at the West End, will move into the old Purple Wagon store on 7th Avenue. The two stores have the same owners, according to KCRG.

When Will the New Location Open?

KCRG reports that both shops will remain open for now. Frankie P's will close in the West End after May 30th, while the Purple Wagon will stay at its current location until mid-June. The new location hopes to open by the end of June or the middle of July, according to KCRG.
