That's my girl!

Billboard is already getting a jump start on their 2017 Grammy predictions, and Maren Morris is a possible nominee for next year's 'Best New Artist' category. She and two other new artists, Chance the Rapper and Alessia Cara, were featured in a new article by Billboard, where they were all interviewed on a number of topics, from politics, to fans, to who they would thank in their acceptance speeches.

When asked if she thinks country music gets the "short shrift" in major categories, Maren said: "When it comes to best new artist or album or song of the year, yeah, it’s very rare that you see someone in country win one of those. It’s a very strong genre, and it’s got roots so deep in our culture. I think the pool of voters listen more to pop and R&B and hip-hop. Those seem to be the major contenders."

She was also asked about the best piece of advice she got from another artist, and she says it was from Natalie Hemby, who is a big Nashville writer. She said, “Don’t be an asshole on the way up and don’t be an asshole on the way down.”

She also voiced support for fine arts education in public schools, picked Beyonce's Lemonade over Adele's 25 for 'Album of the Year', and expressed extreme gratitude towards her parents. To see her full Billboard interview, click HERE.

We're rooting for you, Maren!
