Major Cedar Rapids Agricultural Plant Expanding
It's one of many major Cedar Rapids companies that's been through floods and back, and it just announced it intends to stay home and expand its investment in the city.
Soybean processor Cargill has put into works a $37 million dollar investment plan to expand its processing plant in Cedar Rapids, at 410 C Ave. NE. They have applied for and are awaiting approval on tax credits from the Iowa Economic Development Authority and have asked the city to match a grant in the amount of $429,800.
The expansion would start within 2019 and take place on the current Cargill site, said Cedar Rapids economic development specialist Caleb Manson.
The investment and expansion is to not only create jobs within the company but for those plumbers and electricians to service equipment and farmers to purchase the supply that is produced. I think we can all get on board with that.
