Iowa's own Maddie Poppe left last night's People's Choice Awards a big winner! The 20-year-old Clarksville-native took home the trophy for "Competition Contestant of 2018" for her big win on American Idol this past season.

Since there were so many awards handed out at this year's event, Maddie's category wasn't televised, but she did make sure to let us know about her win on social media. The post reads:

"I had so much fun at the @peopleschoice awards tonight! Met so many cool people & actually ended up WINNING the category of “Competition Contestant of 2018” THANKS TO ALL OF YOU!! It wasn’t televised, but I think I made a couple appearances on the screen a few times, (most likely at the worst angles & slouched over in an un-lady-like manner...Idk red carpets are hard and I felt super out of place.) And though I stumbled up the carpet after tripping over my dress, THANK YOU FOR PUTTING ME HERE! U ALWAYS PICK ME UP WHEN I’M FEELING EVEN THE SLIGHTEST SHADE OF BLUE..I LOVE U GUYS & CANNOT BELIEVE WE ACTUALLY WON THIS!"

Maddie beat out four other finalists, including Nikki Bella from "Dancing With the Stars," Brynn Cartelli from "The Voice," Cody Nickson from "The Amazing Race," and Eva Igo from "World of Dance." She looked absolutely stunning on the red carpet alongside her boyfriend Caleb Lee Hutchinson, who was last season's American Idol runner-up.

Congratulations to Maddie on her big win!

Oh, and just a reminder... she did recently put out a brand new single! Listen to "Keep on Moving On" HERE.
