Reports of libraries' demise appear to have been greatly exaggerated.

The Institute of Museum And Library Services (IMLS) each year awards their National Medal Award and a local library is among the 2017 finalists.

Their 30 nominees consist of 15 museums and 15 libraries from across the U.S. who make important service and cultural contributions to their communities, and the Cedar Rapids Public Library has made the list in the library category.

If you have ever been to our local library and enjoyed your experience, you can help them advance toward this award by sharing your endorsement at the IMLS Facebook page. If you haven't been there lately, I recommend visiting so you can see for yourself why they have recently been on the receiving end of so much great recognition and publicity lately and are such an important resource.
