Congratulations to Susie Crichton, a teacher at Franklin Middle School in Cedar Rapids! She is this week’s ‘Teacher of the Week!’ She was nominated by THREE people, and here’s what they had to say:

  • "Susie is a Special Education teacher who works with children with Autism. She is a spectacular teacher who takes her job seriously. Susie would give the shirt off her back for these students. She's their advocate for a fair education. She is a caring, thoughtful person who puts all others before her. She deserves to be recognized for her work, it takes a special kind person to work with these students, and she is one of a kind."Destiny Laughridge
  • "Susie teaches 6-8th graders who have autism. Susie learns and gets to know each one of her students individually, and thats how she approaches how to teach them. Susie goes above and beyond with her students, and is always finding new ways to help her students. Susie stays late and is always making sure that her students are taken care of. Susie has also gotten to know the families of her students and makes sure that the parents are involved as much as possible. She is willing to fight for her students to make sure they are getting the education they deserve." Lauren Konchar
  • "Mrs. Crichton is an autism teacher at Franklin Middle School who goes above and beyond with each of her students. She not only educates her students, but she finds out what each child is most interested in and makes them feel like they matter and that they are important each and every day. She has a genuine way of connecting with her students." - Anonymous

For being an amazing teacher, Susie will be receiving gift cards from Wild Hogs in Walford and Kathy’s Pies!
