Caution: 2 Iowa Truck Stops on ‘Do Not Stop’ List

Truck drivers are among the hardest-working people in Iowa and the United States. Always on the go, rain or shine, snow or sun, they don't stop.

With online delivery as popular as it is, the number of trucks bouncing between stops has only increased in recent years.

But unless you're a trucker or know one well, there are likely many aspects of the job that you simply won't understand. For example, truck stops to avoid.

A couple of years back, a trucker shared a list of 82 truck stops in the United States that truckers carrying high-value loads should avoid at all costs.

Truck Stops to Skip

On the list, shared by CDL Life, the trucker lists stops to avoid in 20 states, including Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Missouri, Texas, as well as Saskatchewan in Canada.

Texas appears to have the most, with 15 stops to avoid, followed by Illinois with three, and Iowa, as mentioned, with two.

On the truckers do not stop list for Iowa are two truck stops in Council Bluffs.

Both have pretty good reviews on Google, but according to the unnamed trucker in the CDL Life story, he says to avoid these if you have a high-value load.

Texas has 15 truck stops to avoid on the list, California has 8, and Indiana has 6.

Always Trust a Trucker

While there is not a lot of context to the original story, one can assume the truck driver has visited or chatted with drivers who have visited each of these stops and had a less-than-stellar experience.

Truckers know the road better than anyone, and if one tells me to "skip this stop," it's probably worth listening.

Whether you're hauling high-value cargo or just curious about life behind the wheel, it's a reminder that not all rest stops are created equal... even in the Hawkeye State.
